Conversion NOT performing D-check

Airline Generations - Haneda - J P N

Several conversions did not execute the automatic D-check ("The conversion includes D check") while converting. See examples:

airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...

airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...

airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...

airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...

and many more (66 frames)...

Just for context, a D-check is close to 1.6m each, and 2.5 months out of service! It is not a small bug :)

For bug-fixing you may need to focus on conversions while in storage, and/or removal from storage conversion is on-going. As for the 66 frames, let me know if you need me to list them. But in essence, it is the next 66 D checks on the DC-8-54CF. It would be good to hear from you what action will be taken to minimize the impact of this bug on the airline financials. Cheers!

Since this is so rare and isolated case, the fix that makes the most sense is that taking the plane out of storage while it is in conversion maintenance has been disabled, so the "remove from storage" button is hidden while conversion takes place.

Finally back to this. Testing with another aircraft:

- Have a normal pax DC-3, D check is due in 1.3 years. I first put it in storage.

- When stored I perform the conversion to DC-3F. Menu says "The conversion includes D check." And the "Remove aircraft from long-term storage" is checked as default.

- A/C is converted to DC-3F with internal maintenance code "9999" (correct for the case, indicating conversion). Aircraft status is changed from "storage" to "in operation" immediately as it is supposed to do.

- When the conversion is due, the backend process detects the conversion and changes a/c condition to 100%, and it also updates the D check for this current date.

So also in this case it works just normally.

Test case 2:

- Again DC-3, D check due in 1.1 years. Put to storage.

- Conversion to DC-3F while in storage, but "Remove aircraft from long-term storage" is NOT checked.

- Again the model conversion is performed to database right away with the correct internal code. Plane remains in storage.

- A few days before the conversion due date, the "remove from storage" is clicked.

- At the dialog the "Perform additional heavy (C/D) maintenance checks, even if not yet expired?" is unchecked by default. It is kept unchecked also here.

- The plane is removed from storage, it remains as DC-3F, but the internal maintenance code is changed to "7100" indicating an extra repair/out-of-storage maintenance, that does NOT include D check.

- If the "Perform additional heavy (C/D) maintenance checks, even if not yet expired?" is checked by the user, with more than 1 yr to D check, it also fails to complete the conversion's D check.

--> Here is the bug.

Fix pending.

Thank you for the follow-up.

The examples on the previous message may have been sent (by me) to D-check already.

Let's start with one "good" frame where all went well, where the D check was executed while converting (as expected):
airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...
12-Mar-1964 - Converted from 8-11 to 8-54CF
D check: 20-Jun-1964 (100 days after the conversion)

Now let's see a "bad" frame :
airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...
04-Feb-1966 - Bought by J P N
02-Mar-1966 - Converted from 8-12 to 8-54CF
D check: -
Note: the D check was not performed. Upcoming D-check is in ~550 days.

And, a "bad" frame but somehow irrelevant to my complaint as by coincidence the frame had a D-check done 6 days before I bought it.
airwaysim.com/Game/489/Aircraf...
23-Mar-1964 - Bought by J P N
28-Apr-1964 - Converted from 8-11 to 8-54CF
D check: 17-Mar-1964 (the D check was done before I bought the frame, hence not done while in conversion)

So, how to know which ones have not performed D-check while converting? Select My Aircraft, All My Aircraft, Fleet Group DC-8-54CF, organize by Maintenance, organize by D-check. All frames with "Next D-check" for the next 1.000 days (up to ~4 years) are all Conversions where the D-check was not executed. There are more, but I would be happy with any in-game gesture on those frames.

For the bug, I suggest checking the two "bad" frames above. I am 90% certain that the sequence of events was: send to storage - conversion while in storage - remove from storage before the conversion is finished.

Cheers.

Any comments on my findings, I'd need to know how you were able to reach this result?

I do not have a database snapshot of the status of your airline before these conversions, but on my test airline I have a DC-3 that I convert to DC-3F.

It has 4.9 yrs to next D check with 97% condition. The aircraft is not in storage and operated normally.

When performing the conversion to DC-3F, it takes it's time, but when it is completed the D-check is done on the day the conversion is completed. -> works as expected.

Cannot find a bug in this test case.
